Project Partners
The Crossing at Keremeos was conceived by a partnership
of leaders in addiction treatment and advocacy. Together, these organizations
have the knowledge, expertise and resources to take it from a possibility
to a promise delivered.
Central City Foundation
Established in 1907, the Central City Mission is one of Vancouver’s
oldest charitable organizations. In 1991, the Mission created the Central
City Foundation to continue its work of helping people in need in the
inner city. For 100 years, Central City has focused on programs and
capital projects that directly benefit disadvantaged groups. Central
City has created safe, affordable housing; alcohol and drug treatment
facilities; group homes for children with disabilities; long-term care
homes for seniors and a family centre and daycare in the downtown eastside
of Vancouver.
From Grief to Action: Family and Friends of Drug Users
From Grief to Action began in 1998 as an informal support group for
parents of drug users. Since then, it has become an active non-profit
society that promotes recognition of drug use as a health issue,
provides a Coping Kit for families dealing with addiction, offers
ongoing support through its self-help group, “Parents Forever” and
works tirelessly to ensure that BC youth have access to long-term
residential treatment.
Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health Authorities
The Health Authorities support the youth long-term residential treatment
centre and will access the program on a fee for service basis where
appropriate. Interior Health will also provide any hospital services
required by the residents of the centre.
Portage Program for Drug Dependencies
Portage is a non-profit organization that has been dedicated to the
social rehabilitation of people with substance use issues since 1973.
Portage offers services and programs in Québec, Ontario and
Atlantic Canada. Their aim is to return people with serious drug
addiction to mainstream society as drug-free, crime-free and productive
citizens, through comprehensive, responsive and cost- effective interventions
based on the therapeutic community approach.
