Fair in the Square
Central City Foundation and
Vancouver Community College

Fair09Thousands of hot dogs, smokies and cupcakes, hot chocolate and lemonade, hundreds of volunteers and an amazing concert too...Fair in the Square 2009 was another great day in the neighbourhood!

For the third year now, Central City Foundation and
Vancouver Community College came together to organize a special afternoon for the community with great food, fun and entertainment and even a small fair of community groups, artists and artisans selling their wares.

We would like to thank all who worked so hard to make this afternoon such a great success including all of the volunteers, our community partners and especially the musicians and performing artists who provided wonderful music and the many sponsors and in-kind contributors without whom this event would not be possible!.

Centre A, 2 West Hastings Street, Vancouver

logoOn a cool clear evening in early March, Centre A in the heart of the Downtown Eastside was filled with a lively crowd of Central City Foundation’s friends, supporters, neighbours, donors, grant recipients and community partners. What a perfect evening: wonderful guests, tasty food, and countless examples of the creativity and generosity of our community.

100th Anniversary Celebration
(first annual party in the park)

Anniversary When we started planning our 100th anniversary celebration, we realized right away that the best possible thing we could do was to throw a party for our neighbours. As an organization dedicated to investing in our community we wanted to thank that community for our century of working together. So we brought together our neighbours, folks living and working in the inner city, and our donors and supporters. We all spent a beautiful September afternoon in Victory Square Park sharing food, entertainment and friendship. It was so perfect that we decided to do it every year, and so our 100th anniversary party was also our first annual party in the park.

Second Annual Party in the Park

In 2008 we had another party, this time partnering with Vancouver Community College, our neighbour. We celebrated again with food and entertainment and highlighted our newest project, The Crossing at Keremeos.
